We're Christians but different churches... [04 Sep 2006|01:19am]

I posted this in my personal Livejournal, so the names of the churches i'm talking about... don't really matter, but i'd like your input on things.

"So I've had a lot of thoughts lately about how we're all Christians, accept Jesus Christ as the answer to our salvation, but at the same time it fathoms me how there are different churches. I know the reasoning behind why there are three different Christian Churches in town (Jeff. Street, Lincoln Christian, Neighbor to Nations... these are in alphabetical order... no other reason why i put them in that order), because all chruches have different things to offer. I've been placed at Jeff Street because thats where God wants me, I do understand that I have a calling there, but heres what gets me. (sorry, i'm typing this when i'm tired and its late, and i should be in bed, but its on my mind and i can't get it off, so i'm typing about it). Anyways... what gets me is... we're all brothers and sisters but hows come I feel like we're so far apart? Is it just me? it could be, and maybe its just something that I need to deal with. but if this is the case, then I do feel that we do need to come together as Christians in fellowship, and keep each other accountable to see what we are doing is going to grow the kingdom of God, as ONE.
Now, I'm also saying all this with not exactly knowing what all my thoughts are. I've caught myself thinking today... "whats the point of being a member of just one chruch." I think maybe its more than just being part of a local church, but rather being part of the universal church. I'm not saying anything like "I'm not happy with my church, or... I don't think we should have different churches", i guess I don't know exactly what I am saying. Pray for me... this community... the universal church. Is this just an internal conflict? if so... why do i feel such an urge to be talking about this, and make something out of it?
Another thing before i close this post up... but... it always seems we are always wanting more people to come to our church, what if our church isn't for them. I'd much rather have an unsaved friend of mine to be connected at Lincoln Christian, or Neighbors, rather than them not feeling connected at all at my church, and not becoming a Christian at all.

I'm tired... i probably don't make sense... and again... i don't know what all my thoughts are, this has just been a recent development, and i wanted to share."

Have a fantastic Labor Day!

today's word is... "FAKE!" [11 Oct 2005|06:52pm]

here ya guys go...

now... my challenge to you all... be cool and straight up be yourself... no fake stuff.

1. One that is not authentic or genuine; a sham.
2. fraudulent; having a misleading appearance
3. not genuine or real; being an imitation of the genuine article

now with that, i want to give you the definition of "real"

1. True and actual; not imaginary, alleged, or ideal
2. Being no less than what is stated; worthy of the name: a real friend
3. Not to be taken lightly; serious

which are you. frankly, i'm tired of people not being themselves, being phony. if you guys are scared of what other people might think... please just let go. If thats what is holding you back, how are you going to be able to live you life? If you have to judge everything based on "oh my gosh!? what will they think if I do this." Life is short... live like you should. Live for God and not be ashamed of His glory. I mean... if anything He should be ashamed of us. Us sinners... Us unworthy people. Our God is a loving God. Isn't it only fair to love back? Isn't it only fair to be ourselves, and live our life for Him? Imagine this... What if Jesus was a "fake"? His personality just fake, like a lot of you out there. Do you think our world would be the same? Do you think if Jesus decided "oh Father... If I die on this cross... these people will think I'm stupid or "uncool" if I do so." I know I can be thankful of Jesus being real... and genuine.

I look at people (not judging them, because the fakeness within them just radiates from their skin), and I see people that are scared, people that have this "power" of being a role model for everyone. But, they are too stuck on what other might think.

Now... I'm not saying I was never in this place, because... to tell you the truth, I'm just as guilty as a lot of you. Junior High was hard for me. It was hard for me to "fit" in. I was teased a lot. People would take advantage of me. I was scared to wear Christian Shirts at a Christian School, because I was labeled a "churchie". It wasn't till High School, when I finally let God slap me in the face. lol. To this day, I'm on this high for God, because I'm real. I want to make an impact for Him, and His kingdom. Sometimes I just sit here... mad, because I want to make a difference, but I don't know what He wants me to do. Sometimes I sit here... think of tons of people, that just make me want to punch the wall, because they are the people that other people are looking at, and they aren't doing anything for God.

I'm not trying to point fingers... I'm just praying that maybe... the people I have in my mind... or maybe people that are struggling with this will read this, and maybe... MAYBE... I can help them out.

Jesus is the COOL way to do things... talking with profanity, making fun of people, doing drugs, drinking, all that... how will that help you in your spiritual life? how will that help you in the long run? how will that help you with anything?! if it makes you popular... do you really want to be popular because you smoked 12 joints over the weekend?! do you really want to be popular because you could out drink anyone of your friends at that party last night?! what good is that? where is the good in all that?

I pray I made an impact for atleast some of you.

and trust me... I've been in the same boat as some of you, but when you get out... and dive into that fresh water of forgiveness, and righteousness. Its a beautiful thing.

Thats my challenge to you all.

May God Bless you,

P.S. Now... feel free to give me a challenge :-)

attempt to post... [05 Sep 2005|07:31pm]

Hey Everyone!

School's starting up again. Which is cool for one reason, and only one reason I can think of: Church activities for the Youth are back on a regular routine. Anything new going on in your spiritual lives?

I'm on the CONNECTION MINISTRIES at my church which is really awesome. I'll tell you a little bit about it, to give you some ideas for your church :) Well it's the beggining of a new year, so there's been alot more new people coming in. We want them to feel as welcome as possible. So a small amount of us are in charge of getting to know them and finding out who'd they best get along with. So we connect them into our regular church goers, so they aren't going stag sitting by themselves in the back row. Then we've been taking pictures of everyone that ever comes. Atleast 2 in a picture, but no more than three. We post all the pictures with the people's names below the picture on a bulitine board. This way you can find out what someone's name is if you forgot but know you already asked them about three times, or you can see who has been coming for a while and see how they're doing, be like "hey I missed you this Sunday" We've got a couple other things running, but I will save those for another post :) Any ideas to help people feel more welcome? please share! I'd be happy to hear ^_^

P.S. Audio Adrenaline's new cd came out this last August called "until my heart caves in" it's awesome! I also highly recommend Matthew West. Any fans out there?

Hey guys. My name is Becca. I am 14. I live in FL. I liked the name of this group, so I joined. I do agree with all_is_on_you, though. I think more people should post here. My musical interests include a wide variety, but I like rock the most. That's about it...

i thought that was a very good question. i asked my dad (he's a pastor, not that that matters) but he thinks it's because people have faith when everything in their life is going good, but they haven't built up enough faith to keep it or to hang on when things get tough! i think that's a good point.

Slipping Away-Thoughts [31 Jul 2005|11:42am]

Moodrings had an interesting question.

I haven't slipped away, but I have a few ideas as to why.

I went to a ministry convention and I believe the facts were 80% of regular church goers stop going to church and lose relevance once they hit college. Alot of kids go to church and are really just living out their parent's faith, and haven't really taken it up on their own. Although some have. The Devil throws temptations to those strongest in God, cause they're the ones who threat him the most. Therefore several obstacles can wear people down, especially teens who already have struggles with growing, Highschool, and what not. With all the obstacles we may start to think why is this happening to us, if God really existed and was really in control why would he let these things happen. Which is a horrible thought in my opinion, because God is in control and is completely capable, but he has given us all our free will to chose to do right from wrong, and the devil will tempt us. These temptations though if we overcome them will strengthen our faith and teach us something God has been trying to reveal to us. All of the temptation and God's control in matters is shown alot in the book of Job. In Job you can see both sides of the story.

Evil desires and wanting independence often drives people away from God. Christianity is alot about submitting your life to God and taking his path, and letting you lead him. Which turns out being the best thing for you and making the journey easier and more enjoyable, but people often see that as someone making all teh decisions for them and we especially teens want our independence and to be able to make choices for our own. Alot of teens start wanting to have sex before marriage, alot of christians even, have lost sight of God's will and have decided to ignore it and live by just certain rules.

There are soo many things that can pull you away from God. Alot of people just don't have deep enough roots in their faith and they go out to witness, or hang with their friends in general.. but they aren't the ones rubbing off on the bad role models, they're the ones being molded into the wrong things.

The Parable of the Sower Matthew 13 is a parable of different ways people are torn away from Christ.

hey.. so..

i was wondering.. what do you guys think is the number one reason why people slip away from God? and if you've slipped before.. or you're in the process or whatever.. what is your reason? what makes you struggle? what keeps you from moving mountains into the sea?

i'm just wondering. because no one ever does post in this community. if you want to reply to this.. post a separate entry. don't leave me a comment or anything. i just want everyone to read what you have to say.

so mexico was amazing. we worked with kids most of the time and i just fell in love with them. i don't speak much spanish, so we really couldn't communicate very well, but it was like they knew what i was trying to say! they were so patient and i knew they loved me. if you ever have a chance to go on a missions trip, do it. you won't regret it. yes, i got sick. and no, i didn't get much sleep, but it was worth it! i met so many new people that i plan to keep in touch with and will definately never forget. my friends and i had so much fun in the airports and in the vans telling jokes and stories. if you want to hear some, let me know. lol. it was just incredible and it's definately something i'll never forget
